Foodbank information
There are a number of foodbanks in South Manchester. South Manchester Credit Union can provide our members with a food bank voucher for a collection parcel from their local food bank – you can access this by contacting us on Nivo or by phone to ask us for a food bank referral. We can offer two food bank vouchers to members every six months. You can find your local foodbanks here.
If you can’t visit your local foodbank for collection, we’ve partnered with Humans MCR who offer home delivery foodbank parcels on Tuesdays. Members can contact us for a referral to Humans MCR by messaging us on Nivo or by phone. We’ll take you through a questionnaire asking about things such as allergies, dietary preferences, and household members. This service is available once a month.
Download Nivo and speak to one of the team here.
Affordable groceries
Another amazing service provided by Humans is their grocery delivery service that offers fresh food, cupboard staples, ambient goods and occasionally meat and prepared meals for a reduced price. There is a yearly membership fee of £5, and then prices for the grocery parcels vary depending on the size of your household.
The Bread and Butter Thing also provides a similar service. There’s no fee to join and every time you use the service you pay £7.50. For every £7.50 shop, you get roughly £35 worth of food.
The weekly bags are made up of surplus food from high street supermarkets, food manufacturers and farms. Each week the bag is different, but it’s always quality, fresh produce.
To join, you just need to text 07860 063 304 with your full name, postcode, and the names of the hub you’ll be collecting from. Find more information about the Hubs and The Bread and Butter thing here.
